π "Success is not significant;
your love in pursuing
your passion is paramount
irrespective of consequences."
π Etchings of the First Quarter of 2020 - Letters, Ideas, Conversations and Poems by Sabarna Roy
π Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐π
π From the title of this book, you can get the idea of what this book consists of. It is divided into basically two segments, one contains proses in forms of letters, conversation and compact criticism and the other deals with poetry. In the first segment there are 3 parts -
πΉ A letter to a Stepdaughter - where he introduced an idea of duality.
πΉ A letter to Suranajana - where he critically analyzed the controversial book 'Lolita'. I have yet to read 'Lolita' so I can't say more about that, but I have gained slight knowledge about that book which will help me into my future reading of that book.
πΉNocturnal Conversation between a Stepfather and Step-daughter over desserts and coffee - and this is my second favourite part of this book. I got to know about many unknown and important topics. Here he and his step-daughter discussed diverse topics such as various books like 'Anna Karenina', 'Ghare Baire'. Not only books their discussion shifted from Politics to Duality and Love and the hidden love story of T.S Eliott , from Schizophrenia to Marine Conservation. This part is the most insightful part of this book.
πΈ Now comes in the second segment - The Poems
This is my favourite segment of this book. As I love to explore poetry, this part typically made me explore various important topics through each poem. There are 20 poems alongside the date, from 11th January to 31st January, 2020. I don't want to talk more about poems. Those poems will surely take you into a different dimension.
π This book is only consists of 71 pages and will take hardly 1 hour or maximum 2 hours to finish, you can finish it in 1 sitting too. This book is basically a mini Encyclopedia on some certain important and unknown topics, and it proves that Roy has done great research before writing this book. The writing style, which will keep you intrigued thoroughly and basically in that Poems segment. This was my first picked book from his collection, and I am looking forward to reading more of Roy's works. Definitely recommending this.
QOTD - Have you read 'Lolita' or 'Anna Karenina' ? Recommend me a controversial book !
